Spaghetti with a twist

After I made the soup , it is about time for me to have my lunch but I didn't cook my rice yet .So , instead of eating rice I decided to eat spaghetti . I always used to the same way of cooking spaghetti in a pot of hot water and serve . But today i make it a twist .

Ingredients:
1 hand grip of spaghetti
2 tablespoon of oil
5 cups of water
2 cloves of garlic

Instruction :
Put a pot of 5-cups water to boil (on high heat)
Put in the spaghetti into boiling water
Keep it in the pot for 10 minutes .
Remove the noodles from the water into a plate

For a twist:
Put finely chopped garlic and oil into the frying pan , until it is fragrant .
Add in the spaghetti ,mix it .
And serve with the tangy vegetable soup.

1 serving

My opinion:
When i sinked my teeth in, I tasted the fragrant smell of garlic and the soup . It is special to me as i have never eaten spaghetti with garlic smell !

Tangy vegetable soup

This month , the Men's Health Mag (US Edition) has its front page featuring on Obama who is the newly elected president of America . I think for most people , they think he deserved because we believe he will make a revolutionary change to the world .
Almost got carried away by that, I found this recipe in this month magazine . In my fridge , i got a bundle of celery which i bought last week . And after reading through the recipe , I found most of the ingredients used also in my cabinet and fridge. I got excited as i going to try something new today .

There is what i used :

5 tablespoon of olive oil
3 medium size tomatoes
3 stalks of celery
1 can of Heinz (no added salt ) Baked Beans
1 bulb of onion
1 hand sized cauliflower
1/2 carrot

-Pepper and salt added up to your taste .

How I Make it :
Put 3 tablespoon of olive oil in the bottom of the pot on medium heat .Add chopped onions first then followed by carrot, celery and cook. Stir occasionally until it is fragrant (about 10 minutes) .
Add the remaining olive oil, seasoning with salt and pepper as you go.
Add the chopped cauliflower last ,stir occasionally until everything is softened but not browned . Adjust heat as necessary.
Add chopped tomatoes and stir . After that , add the whole can of Heinz Baked Beans into the pot (including the bean-cooking-liquid and 2.5 cups of water ) Make sure the whole mixture is stewy and not too watery .

Tips: 2 tablespoon of corn flour is enough to make the mixture stewy , don't make it too stewy as it will be taste like paste rather than soup.

Keep it cooking till the vegetables are very tender (it is around 10 minutes after Baked Beans is poured )

Serve hot or warm.

4 servings

Good Luck to everyone who wants to try!

No Bake Chocolate Cookies ,Pssss... It is Baked Cookies *(+=+)

From the beginning i started cooking as a hobby , I always wanted to bake my own cookies . Somehow or rather I always find the recipe which has too much of hassle .I don't have an oven to bake the cookies or cake . Most of the time ,when I surf the net I always see all the recipe with the preset temperature to be used before baking and during baking . And i ignored it.

Initially , I am thinking of getting rid of the big bottle full of instant oatmeal in my house by putting some into my breakfast's hot drink . But then again , I asked myself how long will i take to finish the whole bottle of oats . The answer came to me yesterday.
While i was surfing the net for some recipe about oatmeal cookies , I stumbled upon some recipes using oatmeal as the main ingredient in the cooking . The most surprising thing about the tittle of the recipe is called No Bake Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies . Wow, thats the recipe i was looking for.

Ingredients:
• 4 ounces butter or margarine
• 1/2 cup milk
• 2 cups sugar
• 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
• 3 to 4 tablespoons peanut butter, optional
• 3 cups oats, quick or old-fashioned
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

But then again , I only have margarine , milk ,sugar, milo and a bar of dark chocolate . Can I make it a success if i eliminate those of what i don't have?

After some time , I came to the official Quaker oatmeal website where it has also the no bake cookies recipe . But this time the recipe is much more simple and useful for me .
I also modified some of the recipe by replacing the cocoa powder with Milo (a type of hot chocolate drink) that i have .For the no bake cookies recipe i found it to be too watery to be considered cookies , so I put the mixture to a baking container and baked it in my small toaster. To add some personal touch , I decided to put a layer of dark chocolate on the cookies .

Finally , the end result is that my taste bud is very satisfied with the taste and texture. The top has a layer of dark chocolate which i put pieces by pieces when i baked the mixture after 3 minutes of baking. Finally the cookies turned out to be crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside .But the 4 edges of the topping are a bit charred. I recommend those who want to try it out can put the layer of chocolate on top at the fifth minutes . The total baking time is 7 minutes .

The recipe from Quaker website is :

Ingredients:

2 cups granulated sugar
8 tablespoons (1 stick) margarine or butter
1/2 cup low-fat milk
1/3 cup baking cocoa
3 cups Quaker® Oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked)

Preparation steps:

1. In large saucepan, combine sugar, margarine, milk and cocoa. Bring to boil over medium heat, stirring frequently.
Continue boiling 3 minutes, stirring frequently.
2. Remove from heat. Stir in oats.* Drop by tablespoonfuls onto waxed paper.
3. Let stand until firm. Store tightly covered.

Spelling errors

Many times we notice that The Star newspaper highlights the wrong spelling happening everywhere not only in Malaysia but also abroad. Sometimes , I wanted to highlight the wrong spelling 'phenomenon' on my blog but these wrong spelling and grammar errors are not very obvious to us .

Today I want to share with you a few spelling errors which are happening in a world renowned hotel group's online portal . Oops , my writing is alike the primary school students . Come back to the topic, em... when i was at my stay in the Concorde Inn KLIA , Sepang ,I found out that one peculiar incident which has happened . The online portal which links us to the internet has spelling errors on the login page . This has sure has an impact on the image on Malaysian English . I still remember one of the members of the parliament said that our main tourist attraction is our Malaysian english standard . And most of the members of the parliament laughed at the person.

The word 'repite' doesn't exist in my dictionary and I does ring me about the word 'repeat'

.Plus, the word 'comfrotable' should be comfortable.

I don't understand why they didn't check the spelling errors before publishing it for public viewing .

Jln Alor

I have heard of the road name Jalan Alor for the past few weeks . The initial change of road name has caused many objections from the people including tourists who used to remember the road name as Jalan Alor.

But today , while I was in a public bus from Pudu , I was asked the direction of Jalan Alor and from that moment I was shocked by my shortcoming of not knowing where is Jalan Alor . But later I found out that it is a street next to Jln Bukit Bintang.I think that was the food haven which i found accidentally while I was walking along Bukit Bintang.
