Chameleon Cameron

Last year at this period of time I was in Japan , but this year I didn't go abroad as I didn't plan any trips . Therefore , at the last minute, I managed to visit a local holiday destination which is Cameron Highland.

I felt disappointed as there are lots of uncontrollable logging and deforestation on the way up to the highland . Not only that , initially I tought a sweater would bring some relieve from the coldness but the temperature there is too hot for me to wear . We used the new road which is from Simpang Pulai to the highland , first we stopped at Tringkap to visit the Bharat tea plantation. As the sun shone on us , the fiery hot sun really made us feel hot instead of cool. Even though the breeze was soothing but if you stand under the hot sun ,then you will feel the heat.

There are lots of self-plucking strawberry parks around Tringkap and Brinchang . Last time , there are a few limited farms but now there are lots of it . It really made me lost the interest in going to one as it was not special anymore. Stalls along the roadside are selling strawberries and the price is not competitive enough . The price of the local and the imported ones are almost the same . The local strawberries are much sour than imported ones.

One thing worth mentioning is the yogurt strawberries with honey at the Big Red Strawberry Farm which is besides the Cactus Valley at Brinchang. The fresh sour strawberries with the sweet taste of honey and the creamy yogurt made a perfect blend of mouth watering dessert . Freshness of the strawberries is incomparable with the imported ones as it was plugged directly from the plants.

We have wasted most of our time in the traffic jam, around 2 hours . The congestion started from Tringkap to Brinchang . Approaching markets or farms , there will be a slow down. I hope the local authority can limit the traffic flow to the highland . So beware to go on holiday season, as lots of people will make the place congested and made your holiday a painful memory .

Anyway , it was a wonderful place to relax if minus the stress in the jam .

First time Experience

This was the first time in my life that I was stuck inside a flight cabin for almost an hour . This is due to some technical glitches on the aircraft. When I first enter the sky bridge after walking out of the waiting hall , I was surprised to see an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer entered the aircraft . At first I thought he was going into the aircraft and travelled to Penang. I didn't aspect that it will become that serious until the flight was delayed .I was supposed to depart at 1540 but it flew at 1620.
And I arrived at Penang International Airport at 1705. After taxing , I reached the terminal around 1715.

This was the first time in my life that I was stuck inside a flight cabin fo
My boarding pass with TOD written :1540

TOA display at Penang International Airport :1705

Initially, I was happy to be given a window seat (F)which is on the No. 8 row . As the aircraft being towed from the bay to the runway ,I thought the engineer had gave a green light to the pilots . But then I was wrong . I , with the sweater on had a difficulty to cope with the hot cabin . After taking off the sweater , I coped better but still not up to my expectation.

After the seat belt sign was switched off when the aircraft was airborne, I was delighted to be served with a treat , more than the usual orange juice and peanuts. The box consisted of a piece of fruits cake, a sweet and spicy peanuts, two pieces of Ferrero Rocher chocolate and a cup of orange juice.

This is first time I am seeing this kind of meal box . And usually we get the salted peanuts but that day I received the sweet and spicy peanuts for a change.

The meal box

Inside the meal box

The usual Salted Peanuts given onboard

I really appreciate the kind and generous hospitality given by the airline . I am not bias in anyway because it is fair to treat the customer after a long time of waiting .

Note:
If next time you are travelling on a Boeing 737-400 aircraft , I would like to advice you to request for a seat from row No. 1 to No. 8 in order to have a perfect view of scenery .
And if you can avoid taking row No. 11 to No. 14 because that few rows are near the emergency exits which is not so convenient .
Don't take the last row of economy class which is No. 27 because you can't incline your seat .

Pork chop with Red Wine Sauce

I got the inspiration of making this dish through a cooking website, I have a 2007 Cabernet red wine which left half a bottle therefore to be a bit different I use the wine for cooking. Most of the web site reported that you shouldn't use the wine which you dislike for cooking .So , I hope this will enlighten someone who would like to cook using red wine in the future.

Most of chinese cooking will put a few tablespoon of cooking wine which is totally different from the wine used for English cooking style. But the ultimate aim is to intensify the fragrance of the dishes.

Ingredients:
2 pork loins
3 tablespoon of ground pepper
1 cup of all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon of chicken stock
1/2 red apple
3 tablespoon of oil
4 tablespoon of red wine ,eg.Cabernet

Instructions:
1. Preheat oven (set it to high). Whisk together flour, salt and pepper in a small bowl; set aside 2 tablespoons.
2. Sprinkle remaining flour mixture over pork chops, turning to coat; shake off excess.
3. Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat until hot but not smoking.
4. Add pork chops, and brown well, 3 to 4 minutes per side.
5. Transfer pan to oven; roast pork chops until they are cooked through, about 5 minutes more.
6. Transfer pork chops to a plate; cover to keep warm.
7. Place pan over high heat; add wine, scraping up browned bits on bottom.
8. Whisk reserved flour mixture into stock; pour into pan while whisking mixture in pan.
9. Stir in diced red apple. Continue to cook until sauce has thickened and fruits are tender, about 15 minutes more.
10. Season with salt and pepper; serve sauce over pork chops.

Curry Mee Hunt-Down

After having heard of the famous Curry Mee at Lorong 100 Tahun near to the Anson Road market , I have not tried it even once as I am not a real curry mee fans . My parents once told me that the Curry Mee at Lorong 100 tahun is not so fragrant compared with the curry mee at the Hin Leong Coffeeshop along Macalister Road.

Upon reaching the coffee shop of famous Curry Mee at Lorong 100 Tahun, there is no other stalls except curry mee and Loh Bak .I ordered the Loh Bak but it was served only with chili sauce and no 'loh'. It is a standard for Loh Bak seller to prepare both chili sauce and 'loh' in Penang. After waiting for around 5 minutes , the food is served . At first there is no chili paste on the spoon but the lady who served us brought us a big bowl of chili paste which is different from any chilies use in other dishes .

The curry mee fragrant is there but it is not to my expectation. The most important of the taste curry mee is not the coconut milk in it but the chili paste .

After eating the curry mee , I headed to the Macalister road , Hin Leong Coffeeshop which is located at a junction of Perak Road ,Barrack Road and Macalister Road . It is easy to miss the shop if you didn't pay attention to the location of the coffeeshop. The coffee shop which has highlighted by The Star saying that it is a vintage coffee shop with tasty hawker food. I love the environment of the coffee shop which is hard to find in KL , the setting is in the 60's but still maintain its cleanliness . There are other hawker food other than Curry Mee which are Wan Tan Mee, Chicken Rice, etc.

As the title of the entry , I continued on my hunt and i ordered a bowl of Curry Mee . The chili paste given was little compared to the previous which you can take as much as you like. But the fragrance in the bowl is much better than the Lorong 100 Tahun's. And one more thing to highlight is the price of Curry Mee here is cheaper compared to the previous.

Try both if you want to know the difference! After all , famous hawker food sometimes will be not as tasty as it seems .

Carrot Oatmeal Cake

The Carrot Oatmeal Cake

The above title I called it a cake rather than cookies is because the cake is too soft to be called a cookies. I should use a metal tray rather than a glass container to be baked in a toaster oven.

I came back from KL for the weekend and I think that I have to fulfill my promise of making the cookies which i have made previously . Last time , I used chocolate drink powder to be the main attraction in the cooking . But , I wanted to try something different because if I can use other ingredients in my cooking then I will invent another type of speciality . Therefore I tried to use soya milk , carrot , crushed soda biscuits . Besides , I used sugar , chocolate chunk and instant oatmeal which I also used in the previous chocolate cookies.

Below is the ingredients:

15g of fine sugar
3 tablespoon of soya milk (Ensure , Enacal) can be replaced with other types of milk
9 tablespoon of instant oatmeal
3 pieces of crushed soda biscuits
2 tablespoon of butter or margarine
4cm long of carrot ,finely chopped
5 pieces of bar chocolate (any chocolates will do)

Preparation steps:

1. In large saucepan, combine sugar, margarine or butter, milk and carrot.
Bring to boil over medium heat, stirring frequently.
Continue boiling 5 minutes, stirring frequently.
2. Remove from heat for 5 minutes. Stir in oats and crushed soda biscuits until all is covered.
3. Let stand until firm after pouring into a tray.Spread evenly .
4. Bake in a toaster oven for 10 minutes on medium high .
5. Meanwhile, put pieces of chocolate into microwave for 2 minutes on high mode .
6. Overturn the baked cake into a flat plate .
7. Use a spoon to spread the chocolate onto the surface of the cake.
8. Put the cake into freezer for 5 hours .
9. Ready to be served and cut it into pieces.

Serving size : 6 pax

Put it to a boil.

After baking the mixture in a toaster oven.

Overturn the cake onto a flat plate before spreading the chocolate on it.

Using the melted chocolate to spread it on the cake.

I found out that before you place the mixture to the tray for baking, please oil the tray to prevent the cake from sticking onto the edge and the bottom of the tray.

The taste and crispy of the chocolate toppings make a plus into the cake . Although it is soft inside , the taste is not too sweet and too tasteless for everyone to savour .

Put some effort in trying it and you will be rewarded with a Carrot Oatmeal Cake .It is perfect for a tea break .

Spaghetti with a twist

After I made the soup , it is about time for me to have my lunch but I didn't cook my rice yet .So , instead of eating rice I decided to eat spaghetti . I always used to the same way of cooking spaghetti in a pot of hot water and serve . But today i make it a twist .

Ingredients:
1 hand grip of spaghetti
2 tablespoon of oil
5 cups of water
2 cloves of garlic

Instruction :
Put a pot of 5-cups water to boil (on high heat)
Put in the spaghetti into boiling water
Keep it in the pot for 10 minutes .
Remove the noodles from the water into a plate

For a twist:
Put finely chopped garlic and oil into the frying pan , until it is fragrant .
Add in the spaghetti ,mix it .
And serve with the tangy vegetable soup.

1 serving

My opinion:
When i sinked my teeth in, I tasted the fragrant smell of garlic and the soup . It is special to me as i have never eaten spaghetti with garlic smell !

Tangy vegetable soup

This month , the Men's Health Mag (US Edition) has its front page featuring on Obama who is the newly elected president of America . I think for most people , they think he deserved because we believe he will make a revolutionary change to the world .
Almost got carried away by that, I found this recipe in this month magazine . In my fridge , i got a bundle of celery which i bought last week . And after reading through the recipe , I found most of the ingredients used also in my cabinet and fridge. I got excited as i going to try something new today .

There is what i used :

5 tablespoon of olive oil
3 medium size tomatoes
3 stalks of celery
1 can of Heinz (no added salt ) Baked Beans
1 bulb of onion
1 hand sized cauliflower
1/2 carrot

-Pepper and salt added up to your taste .

How I Make it :
Put 3 tablespoon of olive oil in the bottom of the pot on medium heat .Add chopped onions first then followed by carrot, celery and cook. Stir occasionally until it is fragrant (about 10 minutes) .
Add the remaining olive oil, seasoning with salt and pepper as you go.
Add the chopped cauliflower last ,stir occasionally until everything is softened but not browned . Adjust heat as necessary.
Add chopped tomatoes and stir . After that , add the whole can of Heinz Baked Beans into the pot (including the bean-cooking-liquid and 2.5 cups of water ) Make sure the whole mixture is stewy and not too watery .

Tips: 2 tablespoon of corn flour is enough to make the mixture stewy , don't make it too stewy as it will be taste like paste rather than soup.

Keep it cooking till the vegetables are very tender (it is around 10 minutes after Baked Beans is poured )

Serve hot or warm.

4 servings

Good Luck to everyone who wants to try!

No Bake Chocolate Cookies ,Pssss... It is Baked Cookies *(+=+)

From the beginning i started cooking as a hobby , I always wanted to bake my own cookies . Somehow or rather I always find the recipe which has too much of hassle .I don't have an oven to bake the cookies or cake . Most of the time ,when I surf the net I always see all the recipe with the preset temperature to be used before baking and during baking . And i ignored it.

Initially , I am thinking of getting rid of the big bottle full of instant oatmeal in my house by putting some into my breakfast's hot drink . But then again , I asked myself how long will i take to finish the whole bottle of oats . The answer came to me yesterday.
While i was surfing the net for some recipe about oatmeal cookies , I stumbled upon some recipes using oatmeal as the main ingredient in the cooking . The most surprising thing about the tittle of the recipe is called No Bake Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies . Wow, thats the recipe i was looking for.

Ingredients:
• 4 ounces butter or margarine
• 1/2 cup milk
• 2 cups sugar
• 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
• 3 to 4 tablespoons peanut butter, optional
• 3 cups oats, quick or old-fashioned
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

But then again , I only have margarine , milk ,sugar, milo and a bar of dark chocolate . Can I make it a success if i eliminate those of what i don't have?

After some time , I came to the official Quaker oatmeal website where it has also the no bake cookies recipe . But this time the recipe is much more simple and useful for me .
I also modified some of the recipe by replacing the cocoa powder with Milo (a type of hot chocolate drink) that i have .For the no bake cookies recipe i found it to be too watery to be considered cookies , so I put the mixture to a baking container and baked it in my small toaster. To add some personal touch , I decided to put a layer of dark chocolate on the cookies .

Finally , the end result is that my taste bud is very satisfied with the taste and texture. The top has a layer of dark chocolate which i put pieces by pieces when i baked the mixture after 3 minutes of baking. Finally the cookies turned out to be crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside .But the 4 edges of the topping are a bit charred. I recommend those who want to try it out can put the layer of chocolate on top at the fifth minutes . The total baking time is 7 minutes .

The recipe from Quaker website is :

Ingredients:

2 cups granulated sugar
8 tablespoons (1 stick) margarine or butter
1/2 cup low-fat milk
1/3 cup baking cocoa
3 cups Quaker® Oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked)

Preparation steps:

1. In large saucepan, combine sugar, margarine, milk and cocoa. Bring to boil over medium heat, stirring frequently.
Continue boiling 3 minutes, stirring frequently.
2. Remove from heat. Stir in oats.* Drop by tablespoonfuls onto waxed paper.
3. Let stand until firm. Store tightly covered.

Spelling errors

Many times we notice that The Star newspaper highlights the wrong spelling happening everywhere not only in Malaysia but also abroad. Sometimes , I wanted to highlight the wrong spelling 'phenomenon' on my blog but these wrong spelling and grammar errors are not very obvious to us .

Today I want to share with you a few spelling errors which are happening in a world renowned hotel group's online portal . Oops , my writing is alike the primary school students . Come back to the topic, em... when i was at my stay in the Concorde Inn KLIA , Sepang ,I found out that one peculiar incident which has happened . The online portal which links us to the internet has spelling errors on the login page . This has sure has an impact on the image on Malaysian English . I still remember one of the members of the parliament said that our main tourist attraction is our Malaysian english standard . And most of the members of the parliament laughed at the person.

The word 'repite' doesn't exist in my dictionary and I does ring me about the word 'repeat'

.Plus, the word 'comfrotable' should be comfortable.

I don't understand why they didn't check the spelling errors before publishing it for public viewing .

Jln Alor

I have heard of the road name Jalan Alor for the past few weeks . The initial change of road name has caused many objections from the people including tourists who used to remember the road name as Jalan Alor.

But today , while I was in a public bus from Pudu , I was asked the direction of Jalan Alor and from that moment I was shocked by my shortcoming of not knowing where is Jalan Alor . But later I found out that it is a street next to Jln Bukit Bintang.I think that was the food haven which i found accidentally while I was walking along Bukit Bintang.

Sabah!

Since I left Sabah , I have never written an entry in this blog. So , this is my first time in this year I revive my blog again. I will write again if and only if I return to Sabah once more.

I have summarized what my friends said to me when they first saw me :

Why you become so thin?
Maybe because my eating habits was too stringent .
I thought before about my weight issue but i will do something to improve my situation.

You look different with your hair?
My hair? I guess they have never seen me in short hair , last time when i was in Sabah I used to keep my hair in a medium length . I am now already comfortable with my short hair.

Your arms become bigger ?
Thanks to the gym which I go . The facilities provided were as what i have always wanted . When I studied in Sabah, gym was out of reach.

I think that was the comments they gave . Actually now when I am writing my body is very itchy ,I only know how to alleviate the itchiness by applying a type of balm which is made in Thailand. But soon after warmness of the balm diminishes , the itchiness starts again. There are 2 possibilities : the liquor , sunburn.

Speaking about banana liquor, the night before i left Sabah,my close friends were together with me . They suggested to play the card games , the loser will have to drink the liquor. At first was the grapes wine which has 10% alcohol, after finishing the bottle . Next was the bananarama liquor , which has 25% alcohol. I declined but they forced me to drink . I lost mostly in the card games and i had to drink . The wine made a bit dizzy and I felt the earth was moving and very sleppy . After that , with the addition of the Bananarama ,I couldn't help myself but become uncontrollable . The after taste of Bananarama was good but front taste of the liquor was too bitter . I even vomited after the last drink of punishment . (I can say that my situation was nearly like binge drinking )And I slept at early morning around 4 am after a series of unexpected event -'pulling trousers' . I was nearly pulled because I didn't help them to victimized my ex-roomate . They even recorded the whole session on camera including the reveal of the sensitive body parts .

As the sunburn , I was sunburned by the harsh hot weather , if it rained we won't enjoy our trip ,the sunny day brought us a lot of joy and laughter . With my shoulder exposed to the sun directly , the help of the sunscreen lotion with SPF 30 won't prevent my skin from burning. From Sapi Island to Manukan Island , I applied 3 times also won't work. We were transited to another island at around 2 p.m. , the weather was scorching hot but we still go into the sea .

I like Sapi Island very much because of its unsurpassed beauty in the ocean with minimum destroy on the reefs . The fishes were lively and we managed to spot some predators and preys activities . There are artificial corals for the marine life to flourish , I got my knee cut by the coarseness of the artificial coral maybe I stayed at the spot for sometime to look into the artificial coral.

In comparison, I also like Manukan Island but not to the extent like Sapi. The first impression on Manukan was great . As we alighted from the boat at the dock , lots of fishes near the surface of the water including the mini swordfish ,colorful parrot fish . As soon as we entered the sea , most of the corals were destroyed and very few fishes . The sea urchins were abundant in sight which made us returned to the sea . Before we concluded our trip , we went to the far end of the beach in search for better marine animals . As we swim towards the sea , nothing much but dead corals were everywhere . Suddenly , a school of fishes present , my friend fed the bigger-than-usual fishes with non tasty Gardenia bread made in Sabah . I abruptly became afraid of my safety . The distance was very near between the fishes and I ,although it was nice to be surrounded by the fishes . The fishes were wild , I was afraid I will be bitten .

Sex & The City ,The Movie

Today was quite a mixed day but with a little special touch. The day started with an early opening which means that I was awakened by an abrupt alarm at 5 am. But after I broke my fast with a few pieces of soda biscuits and a glass of light chocolate drink, with a doubtful mind I entered my father's car to be sent to the airport. All because of the fuss I have created and the doubts came into my mind. Not only that , (I think that I would like to start my entry with something specific and not anything random )

I was inspired by a specific movie to be flexible in life which I watched the screening of Sex And The City ,The Movie. It was on movie-on-demand section on the flight. I noticed that a fickle minded man with no courage in committing what is best in life will lead to the disappointment of other partner. With the called off of the wedding in the movie by a phone call , the man whom is a bridegroom was not ready to commit under a legal paper of marriage . But the reassurance of the bride is not enough to make a change in his mind. Nothing is more hurting by the let-off of the bride with the others guy, the most important thing is that in other people's eye such embarrassment should not be tolerate.

But in the end of the movie ,Jessica Parker was saved by the email she opened which was sent by his boyfriend. He wrote the quotes from the famous writer of all times. Finally, they forgave and lead them to another level of relationship which is marriage.

Another

In these recent years , friends have helped me but some friends are not as helpful as i have expected . I was catched out of sudden being 'scolded' by an enemy -to-be friend. But then , back to basic he is such an errogant , big talker , loud talker as in volume etc. I can't see anything in him that worth my apology (he doesn't worth a cent for me) ,i would felt sorry for him if I am his family members .

Recently from the previous eggs throwing event which happened at the begining of the year involved this enemy-to-be friend,I learnt my lesson well and I forgot to apply the lesson after that .That was my major disappointment ,even though I forgave him earlier but the sword sharp words are like the daggers in the sky storming towards me . Out of sudden , he will raised his voice and started talking something nasty in front of me. As I was (not am) able to talk to him about some particular things in common . But not anymore , his poison ivy like 'speech' have a place in everybody's ears except me .

I was kind enough to involve him in this recent Men's Health Run 08 at Lake Garden ,KL. By taking the T-shirt for him, even though he betrayed us . He told us that he will be joining us to get the T-Shirt . At the very last minute , he used a very lame excuse that he need to accompany his girlfriend to buy shoes . He originally told us that he was joining us but suddenly he quited . How he treated his friends ?!?! Not only that , with my own pairs of ears around , enemy-to-be friend told T that he agreed with his girlfriend first before agreed with us. But the truth is the other way round. He is such an insincere and manipulative person.

Well enough of that small betrayal, on last sunday which was the Men's Health Run I told him to meet at 6 a.m. and i will pass the T-shirt for him . But around 6.10 am I still couldn't see him and phone was not answered . There are two possibility , first,he is not going , second, he can't wake up . As a courtesy , I made myself up to his floor and placed the bag which consisted of T-Shirt, runner's number, redeemable coupons on top of a box between wooden door and metal door. I was not sure at the moment he was coming or not because he was not answering the phone.

But around 6.20am he finally called back and i informed him about the bag which i left on top of a box between metal door and the wooden door .He need to walk back his house again . For this I need to clarify that I have took my effort by sending the bag to him and helped him in collecting his bag from the redemption counter in KL .

As a result , we left him behind and took the 6.30am bus from my place to Lake Garden in KL. Luckily , we left him because if we still wait for him then we won't be able to start the run on time . As we arrived , the event was about to start.

On the following day , as i entered his car .He raised his voice by pinalizing me on the matter of not sms-ing him that the bag is on top of the box.He said the bag I placed on top of the box he can't see it , instead he told me to put it on the floor .In my opinion, I put the bag on top of the box is to make the identification easier as it was almost at eye level. By right , I have made my favour to him by collecting and sending the bag and he should call me to confirm the situation as the plan might changed because of his late arrival (it may sound a bit harsh but his phone left unanswered after we called) . I can't take the bag with me as i promised earlier because the bag was a burden to me as i have to carry the bag when i runned. I will carry the bag if he meet me on 6am at our guard house and my job was done.

His ungratefulness and mistreat have made my confidence and trust in him 'diminished'. Even he have thanked me earlier for taking the bag which consisted of T-Shirt, runner's number, redeemable coupons but his verbal action has failed himself badly by protraying himself as a Mr. Nice guy.

Food Indulgence Yummy!

It has been ages that i could remember of eating shark fin soup .I am one of the fans of shark fin soup , albeit it is one of the 'forbidden cuisine' ,yet this is part of our culture of eating it.

When I was small after each wedding dinner was held , my aunty will surely bring me some of the excess (not left-over) shark fin soup for me. Soon, I crave for the food. Everytime ,i go back Taiping i will remind my aunty to bring me some. But sometimes ,i will leave Taiping without the shark fin soup .The reason being ,i was in a hurry or there is no wedding dinner there.

The exception had happened yesterday,my aunty brought me shark fin soup in the tiffin carrier to my grandmother's house. She specially cooked for me, i was touched by her action. After i accompanied my mother to the market for some light food which is Jawa Mee .

Finally , I reached home with a surprise waiting for me . I ate 2 bowls of shark fin soup but amazingly inside the soup there were lots of real crab meat .Finally i finished it . On the second bowl , i couldn't finish the meat because it was a lot .

Pss.. Actually i hav mercy on crab but with the soup ,sorry.....

GPS

Recalculate, recalculate…. Turn right at 100m.OMG, I had made the wrong turning by not taking Jln Duta. With the wow factor in this device , my panic faded away with just a breeze .

Till now you will know what I am talking about , it is the amazing GPS navigation device . I was totally caught the attention of GPS navigation device. It utilizes the on-time tracking system to navigate you around to reach your preset destination. With the revolutionary invention which existed few years ago in other countries, Malaysian just started to pick up the gadget . Plus, the gadget can let you set for the preference such as shortest distance, fastest time of arrival, toll avoidance, U-turn avoidance….

I tried this gadget for the first time when I was in my friend’s car to Wangsa Maju for supper . But ,the gadget managed to get us there by guiding us through some turnings and traffic lights. Pretty accurate.

After that , I went home but I missed the turning .I considered myself as stupid because I still can’t follow the GPS even though it is much more easier than the conventional look and drive style on my map manual. But then , the GPS really will alert us about any road blocks and incidents happened in front of the road traveled. The accuracy of the estimated arrival time which is a plus point for the system. The whole journey which I took from Duta bus station to Kelana Jaya was 25 km (0.5 hr) .

Technology really brings convenient for us as a driver to navigate around the cities with the vehicles traveling at 80 -100 km/h . As always , if you miss a turning , you will need to pay for the consequences like paying toll , taking big U-turn, detouring . It really eats up our patience .

Swatch Watch Staff Sales 2008

I have to say that this is the worst warehouse sale but not quite actually the case except for the bad attitude of staffs who treated the buyers. They were extremely rude.

I wanted to have a look at the coloured catalogue but I was told I was not allowed to do so. While i was picking my watch from the “black, white and blurry” catalogue, a lady staff just told me rudely those in the catalogue are not for us (customers) to take but just for reference.Luckily , I spotted one of the watches inside the box behind the counter .Then ,I asked an employee to let me have a look on that .He gave me and i wrote down the code and price .Thanks ,pss.. the watch which i bought was not in the catalogue . I was lucky to do that.

Name: Backwash
Swatch number: YDS4011XG
Category: Irony Scuba 200
Year: 2002 Fall Winter Collection
Diameter case: 43 mm.
Color case: Aluminum
Hands: Glow, Glow, Grey
Type strap: Fliplock Bracelet
Strap width: 21.0 mm.
Water-resistant: 200 Metres
Design year: 1999

While I was waiting for my order, there was this bunch of girls next to me. They were looking through the stuffs they ordered. In the end they only wanted one. The swatch lady scolded them saying that if they didn't want all the watches they shouldn't have written them down in the order form .Besides she mentioned that it was very tough for them to look for the watches and packed them. So, being disorganised is the customers fault? So swatch pays them to just sit around???? What do they expect?? they are paid to be there to do so!!! This is ridiculous!!!! Also, you cannot expect people to be buying the watches without looking at them first. I mean, what do you expect when your catalogue is black, white and blurry!!!!!!

After packing the customers orders, the swatch employees just threw the bags on the floor. Yeah, the watches are cheaper than usual but I am sure it wouldn’t last that long. After all , we just buying those outdated stocks which they wanted to clear off once and for all.

Anyway, I was quite satisfied with my buy but not to mention the rudeness of the employees is a big discount on their image .I hope that in future they will improve for what we as a customer aspects .

Balik Pulau

Not long ago in my memory , no no not not long ago . It should be 1 year ago ,i went to Balik Pulau for the free trial bus service provided by Rapid Penang . I still remember i took the bus from my house to Balik Pulau ,it took more than an hour with all the dropping and taking passengers.

Speaking about Balik Pulau , the place offers the best selection of durian and also not to mention the famous Assam Laksa which located at the old market . Surprisingly I heard my friend told me that the Assam Laksa stall which is besides the market voted for the best Laksa on of the chinese daily. I tried both long time ago and i concluded that the old market Laksa is the best .

This trip to Balik Pulau is a most memorable one in my entire life .With all the laughter and craziness we communicated with each other, made the atmosphere merry .

The first stop , we went to my friend village which is located at Kampung Sungai Pinang. One thing which captured my attention before reaching her house is a half round bridge which connects the two separated ground . When you are nearly at the top of the bridge ,you will never see what is on the opposite side . I have never seen this before.

After reaching her house , the warm welcome and great hospitality really touched me. They are indeed very friendly and nice to talk to. Not only that, they welcomed me like i am their family members. I was treated with a big ,sumptuous 'Bak Chang' made by her mother. Maybe i was hungry at that time, I felt that that 'Bak Chang''s taste made me ask for more. But as a guest , i remained silent because this is part o f our manners .

Then came one of her cousin sister with a nice small brownish dog . I felt like to cuddle the dog but i am allergy with animal fur. That's why i didn't cuddle it. One of my friends , put some ointment on her legs and the dog was not realized until it licked the ointment . Then , the dog expression was very funny ,it kept licking its legs . That's enough to make us laugh .

Soon after that, we were on our journey to hunt down the RM 1 assam laksa ,but before that I requested to buy the famous Balik Pulau 'pau' .Last time , the man used to sell the 'pau' using a tricycle but now due to modernization his obsolete vehicle replaced by a mini van .Luckily at the bend of a junction, the van is just at the opposite of the road .In a split second , we acted swiftly and rushed there as if we were on a quest to hunt down the best 'pau' in town. We, these crazy fellows ran to the van and ordered for the famous vegetable 'pau' . Few minutes later ,many passerby came to the crowd. As i was told by my friend , the 'pau' will be finished by the time the van ended its journey at Balik Pulau from Gertak Sanggul. The Wow factor made me amazed by the power of 'pau'.

Here comes the RM 1 assam laksa, i forgot the location of the stall but it was at a junction in the kampong area. The funny part of the D.I.Y assam laksa was ,the stall owner didn't provide us the chopper board to have our cucumber and onion cut. Thats not all i never seen before the way of cutting the cucumber , cut it vertically first when you hold the cucumber vertically then cut it horizontally but the position of the cucumber remains the same. The more bowl of assam laksa i ate ,the more i felt the tastiness of the soup. I have never eaten D.I.Y assam laksa before, not including those at the buffet.

The great hospitality and serenity of the surrounding made me wanted to have more of the place . It is a place where you cannot get in a hustle and bustle surrounding like Kuala Lumpur. Thanks to you know who you are by providing me a great experience in Balik Pulau. Next time , i wanted to try your orchard's durian ,please reserve some for me! HaHa .....

Cooking Journal

These photos are my collection of cooking in the past few months. I like to cook especially when you have found out a way to cook it which you are unexpected of finding one.
From rice to pasta and some of my experimental cooking turned out to be a surprised!
For example : I have tried to cook prawns before but i am so bored about the way it is cooked ,therefore I used 2 piece of dark chocolate into my cooking . I tried to eat it with rice but it doesn't fit .Ultimately,I tried using it as a desert . It turned out to be a masterpiece. The bitter of chocolate and sweetness of the prawns made the perfect combination. With the melted chocolate eaten with the prawns , the taste is like you are eating chocolate fondue .

Here are some discoveries which I wanted to share : I found it to be quite troublesome for me to cook the fish block with a pot . But after I used the aluminum foil to grill the fish , it got easier and more convenient for me .Plus, there will be an effect of burned on the surface of the block . When you use the pot to grill the fish ,sometimes it will stick to it when it turns brownish.

Another discovery is I used the cooking wine in all dishes at first but the taste on vegetable makes me sick.Later ,I found out that using cooking wine in chicken ,pork and even eggs will bring out the tastiness of the food. At first it sounds funny that , eggs will taste better on cooking wine . Later ,I assumed that maybe everything with protein will make a perfect match with it.
